How it works
Five minutes of measurement. Then a line you can watch for years.
footing doesn’t ask you to change anything to be measured. You walk the way you already walk, sit down for two minutes, and the phone does the reading. What follows is exactly what happens, in order, with nothing skipped.
The two measurements
One for how you move. One for how you think.
Both, every time — because half of them can’t tell you what the pair can.
The walk · about three minutes
Phone in your pocket or your hand, either is fine. Walk any straight stretch at your ordinary pace — indoors, outdoors, hallway, sidewalk. The motion sensors read walking speed, step length, the evenness of left against right, and how consistent one stride is with the next.
Please don’t walk well for us. We’re reading your habit, not your effort. A performance today only makes every later reading look like a decline.
The sitting · about two minutes
A short set of tap-and-recall tasks. Pairs appear and you tap match or no match, as quickly as you comfortably can. It reads processing speed, working memory, fine motor accuracy and rhythm.
Your first few runs get faster because you’re learning the game, not because you’re sharper. We know that, so the first three are averaged before anything is called a baseline.
The three words
Age, Lens, Reading.
Three words do all the work in footing. They’re worth two minutes, because everything else is built from them.
Everything footing tells you is expressed as an age, in years. Not a score, not a rating out of a hundred — an age.
A Movement Age of 55 means your walking reads like the typical 55-year-old in the reference data. It is a comparison, not a verdict, and it is meaningful only next to your real age.
A Lens is one way of looking at the same measurement. footing launches with two: Mobility and Cognition.
Lenses blend into your single Longevity Age — they don’t stack up into a bigger score, and adding one doesn’t inflate anything. Each new Lens sharpens the same number rather than adding another one to track.
A Reading is several walks or several sittings blended together — never a single sample.
One walk on one Tuesday is noise: you slept badly, the hallway was crowded, you were carrying groceries. A Reading averages that away, which is why footing asks for short check-ins every few days instead of one heroic test.
What to expect
Your first two weeks are calibration, and we say so.
The first readings we take are the noisiest ones we will ever take of you. Rather than dress that up, footing labels it — every number carries a calibrating mark until your baseline locks.
Today
One walk, one sitting. About five minutes, and you have your first number — plus one specific thing to do about it.
Day oneThe first fortnight
Short check-ins every few days. Each one narrows the number, and you’ll watch the range tighten. What improves in week one is mostly the measurement itself.
Days 1–14Baseline locks
From then on, a change footing shows you is a change that actually happened — not the instrument settling down.
Around day 14Small changes get called small changes
Every measurement has a noise floor — a range inside which a difference isn’t really a difference. footing knows where its floor sits, and a movement inside it renders as “about the same” with no arrow and no congratulation. You will sometimes open the app and be told nothing happened. That’s the honest answer, and a product that never gives it is a product that’s flattering you.
Free and paid
The content is free. The intelligence is what costs.
Free, permanently
Every dimension we measure. Your Longevity Age and the Lenses under it. Your full history and trend. And one real next best move beside every Reading — the single thing most worth doing, chosen for you.
None of this is a trial. There is no clock on it and no point at which it stops.
The Longevity program · annual subscription
A program that re-aims every cycle at whichever dimension is both weakest and most responsive for you. A deeper cognitive battery. And your cohort — what people your age actually do over the same stretch, which is how holding steady becomes a result instead of a blank.
A 30-day trial, and a reminder email three days before the first charge — carrying your own numbers, so the decision is informed. Cancel in one tap and nothing is taken.
Pricing is published when it’s settled. We’d rather say nothing than say a number and then change it.

One reading is a starting point. The line is the point.
